Works exactly as intended. Bought as a gift, the recipient is very happy. I chose the OEM version to fit just right and it did. It seemed that other variants, cheaper versions, were developed for several cars. If you want something guaranteed to go with Rav 4, then this is for you.

Fits perfectly on a 2016 Rav4 XLE. The top left and right elastic loops (1 loop on each side) attach to plastic hooks on the sides of the back of the rav, and the bottoms of the mesh have plastic hooks that attach to the metal rings on the bottom of the rav. . It creates an "envelope" for you to put items in, but doesn't prevent a heavier item from sneaking underneath (like heavier tin cans, etc.). So keep that in mind when loading your cargo hold.

Had one of these in my 2002 Camry and it was helpful. Bought this for my 2015 Rav4 Limited with the upgraded sound system and subwoofer. Other reviews have said that if the subwoofer is on this hook and not mine, it will interfere with the network. I just received this a few days ago and will update if different. My main goal was to be able to open the hatch tailgate and prevent things from falling out after moving while driving. I don't have the experience to report on placing elements in an "envelope" grid, but it certainly seems to work. This DID fitted my 2016 Rav4 Hybrid Limited, direct plugged in, with no problems. Just bought a 2016 Toyota RAV4 Limited with JBL Premium audio system.
