Fits and works as intended

These boot lid struts fit well (unlike the cheaper brand bought from Revain) and work as intended. They are strong enough to hold the trunk lid in one hit. They have worked well for the last 3 months. I will update my review in a year.

Pros
  • Hands free operation
Cons
  • Almost never

Worked on my 1989 325i convertible cover

These racks will fit and the C-clamps will still fit. The body is too big to fit in the original BMW plastic body covers. It holds the lid well. I wish they had some clips with them as they are incredibly small and easy to lose.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • No performance

Good replacement blocks. Great alternative to OEM.

This is amazing! My 1992 BMW E30 Convertible is completely shot up. I ordered a couple of these and when they arrived I could visually tell that they were significantly stronger. Installation was easy and the lifetime warranty is just the icing on the cake. I recommend them for OEM.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • New competitors have appeared

Fat e30 cylinders compared to stock but they work

I'm giving these 5 stars because they do what they're supposed to, a note to those buying for an 87-91 BMW 325i Convertible Store up the trunk to fill it up. Compared to the originals, the barrels are much thicker so installation is a bit of a hassle, but they work well when worn. They also arrived on time and well packaged.

Pros
  • Lots of good vibes
Cons
  • Appearance

Too thick flange - shock absorbers, struts and suspension

For BMW 325i Convertible from 1988, roof support. Racks have flanges at both ends. The flange at the end of the stem fits well. The end flange of the cylinder is too thick. The flange sits on a pin that is welded to the hinge. The pin has a slot for a horseshoe clip that locks the flange in place. Because the flange is too thick, the slot is not visible, so you cannot securely mount the rack. If you have a grinder - no problem, 5 minutes, if not - good luck.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • There are more interesting options.

Slightly larger diameter than the original

Must be installed with the thick end down opposite the original. The original plastic sleeve does not fit the cylinder, but is not required. The larger end will hit the edge of the top hole if you try to install them the same way as the factory ones. Just flip them over so the stem is up and they're good. I actually like that they're a bit bigger because maybe that means they last longer. Who cares if they have a lifetime guarantee.

Pros
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • Little repairability
