Fairly heavy strong steel. I had two gold and two chrome. The pen clips are sturdy and stay in your pocket even when you bend over. Sharp tips with the usual little red rubber tip. Good price I thought for quantity and quality.

5mm hardened steel shank. You can cut it with a port freight file. Also won't break like hard metal if you break it. Quite acceptable on softer materials, and after some testing I couldn't blunt it on mild steel, so 95% of people agree with that.

I use them to write on polished silicon wafers. They work fine for me. I'm deducting a star because the tip easily detaches from the grip when you try to remove the rubber protection. It seems a bit dangerous as the tips are very sharp. There are others at Revain where the handle can be rotated to tighten the tip. I believe they sell 4 for $13. They're better, but they're half the price.

There is a spring steel shirt pocket clip. The whole instrument is typically Chinese, rough, coarse, but functional. In this case, that tool is disposable, but what do you want for about $1.50 each?
