Smaller size for Baby Scouts and Young Scouts. I gave them to all three of my kids for their scout kits. They're cheap enough that I don't have to worry about the inevitable time they'll be lost or broken, but they're good for orientation classes.

As a real estate appraiser, I get into areas that are unknown to me and this article helps me a lot. When it's cloudy I can't determine the direction, but the compass makes it easy for me to follow my GPS directions and it's much faster than a "compass app". Simple, effective!

Excellent compass, can be used both for map reading and as a lens for tracking the path. The only downside is that the "mirror" is actually a plastic stick, very polished and very reflective, but I'm sure I'll scratch in the future, for the moment I'm happy with this compass as much as possible, even I used it to teach their Webelos squad.

I bought these for science class, they don't work at all. Place two compasses next to the magnet, one with the south end of the arrow towards the magnet and the other with the north end of the arrow towards the magnet! I was in a hurry when I bought them and didn't look at the reviews thinking how can you screw up a basic compass? DO NOT BUY!

This is my backup, it's sitting in my backpack waiting for the GPS to go out at the same time as I get lost but something happens so let's get ready. It works well and is great for navigating the terrain. The clear plastic definitely helps when the terrain on the map is still clear and legible. I would highly recommend this compass to anyone looking for a lightweight, reliable, easy to pack, no frills and easy to use compass.

I was looking for something very cheap. It meets all requirements. Seems to be working fine. Since it's a clear plastic, I thought I saw a crack in the bottom of the liquid reservoir. It hasn't leaked, was packaged very securely for shipping and I could feel the line so it was just a fairly deep scratch. Cosmetic only, does not affect the compass in any way. It should have been a production error. So as long as it works, five stars for me!

Bought 5 of these for a scouting event. I wasn't expecting the super high quality or precision needed to traverse uncharted wilderness, just expecting a general heading north for the scout to learn the basics. None of the five works like a compass. If you turn the red end of the arrow south, it stays south on all 5. When shaken, it can drift in one direction or another. That was true of all five I bought. Inexpensive, functional (but not fancy) entry-level compass. Good for your little Saturday scout to learn how to navigate, but if you were hoping to keep something backpacking for a few seasons, read in the rain, drop, clean and put back - spend the money . to get something better. And for the price, I don't think anyone has the right to expect this to be an heirloom. But it's a cheap, flimsy compass.
