Description of πŸ”‘ Tusk Folding Shift Lever +10mm Black/Silver Tip: Perfect Fit for KAWASAKI KLR650 1987-2018,2022

The Tusk Folding Shift Lever is made from forged T-6061 aluminum and then heat treated, which makes this shift lever one of the strongest and lightest levers on the market. Polished shift levers are anodized for a long lasting beautiful finish. Designed to match OEM specifications. KLR 650 Lever is 10mm longer than the OE lever to make it easier to get your foot under it.

Decent replacement for the parts

Compared to the stock derailleur, this one sits almost an inch further from the bike and an inch longer, not much of a difference. I also had to drill and tap larger holes so I could use the standard bolt to take out the wobble of the smaller bolt that comes back and forth with this derailleur. In general, it would be a good replacement if lost.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Fine

A little bit more. Less weight. Maybe less durable?

Slightly larger than stock lever. Doesn't feel as solid as the standard and that's evident just by holding it in your hand. The Stockman weighs a lot more. This derailleur shifts a little easier than the stock one, but I couldn't imagine it holding up to a rock chip. I plan to take a supply with me as a spare.

Pros
  • Great Price
Cons
  • Extendable

Great replacement or upgrade

After having to bend the stock switch a few times I decided to try this switch on my KLR650. Despite being the same length as a standard rear derailleur (I would have preferred it to be about 1/4 inch shorter), this rear derailleur offers strong and precise shifting with the added bonus of a retractable tip. It seems more durable than a standard switch. and I assume it will survive just fine.

Pros
  • Hands Free Operation
Cons

Safety feature bypassed

This derailleur looks good, fits perfectly and the extra length helps when using MX boots. The problem I have is that on OEM shifters the bolt is also a locking pin. As long as the bolt is in place, no matter how loose it is, the shifter cannot come loose. The pin on this shifter does not fit into the groove on the shaft. so that the lever can fall freely after loosening the screw.

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Insecure

Good light durable shifter

Seems to be a sturdy nice looking flip up shifter for my 2016 KLR650, it moves easily and moves the shift point forward about 1/2 inch which is good for mine Size 12 feet. This places the shifter roughly in the middle of my big toe, which is where I like to keep it from returning to my foot where it was. I only took off one star for durability because it's made of lightweight aluminum and I can't tell if it will outlast steel or not, but I recommend it. FYI, I still have spare pens. I don't…

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Operating speed
