A real screen saver for my mom

I bought about 10 or more of these headphones for my mom who lives in a care center. She shares a room with another patient. My mother is very introverted and it always bothered her that she had to watch her favorite shows in the same room with someone else. I found this headset system about a year ago. This is perfect for her because she can listen in complete privacy. The TV volume may be on the minimum, but her headset is as loud as she wants. She has severe arthritis in her arms and hands…

Poor Performance, Overpriced, Outdated Technology

Pros: If you put this on, people won't think you're not an old person. Cons: This set is made of plastic, which looks cheap and flimsy. The foam earmuffs are gigantic and really hurt the ears. Lots of static electricity even if you sit directly in front of the transmitter base. It uses infrared, so you must maintain line of sight with the transmitter. The battery life is incredibly short, around 20-30 minutes. It's too expensive for what you get. Alternatives: Buy a Bluetooth transmitter and…

Clear, simple, excellent amplification

Ordered this product for my elderly mother (101) who has severe hearing loss in one ear and almost complete deafness in the other. Since she could only hear from one side of the headset and there was no L/R balance function, I looked for other products with a balance control. After a long research, I ordered the Sennheiser SET 840 RF TV because of the great reviews and features. Surprise: TV Ears outperforms Sennheiser despite the lack of balance control (I deducted one point because of the…

Direct, simple, excellent gain

I ordered this item for my elderly mother (101 years old) who has severe hearing loss in one ear and near complete deafness in the other. Not suitable for older users

Two stars because I have a friend whose mother loves her. They make analogue and digital versions. This is an analogue version, although the description says almost nothing and the datasheet says "microphone". They also don't say you need a TV with red-white-yellow OUTPUTS. Most modern TVs do NOT have these outputs. We finally got it working by purchasing a stereo RCA to phono plug adapter. Many TVs don't have a phono plug either, so check before you buy. We couldn't use these: 1. They have…
