TYC 800084P Kia Replacement Cabin Air Filter - Ultimate Air Filtration for Optimal In-Car Air Quality Review

Fits my 2009 Kia Spectra. Easy to replace. Open the glove box, remove the two rubber plugs on the left and right side of the glove box, leave the glove box fully open, take off the filter cover, look at the arrow on the old filter and put the new filter with the Arrow in the same direction. You only saved money by doing it yourself. Drink beer in honor of the holiday.

I bought this filter to replace my own four years later. The dealer charged almost four times the price to replace this filter. So I looked at Revain and bought this filter for less than 13.00 and it took me about 5 minutes to swap it out. So far no problems. In some cases, it is worth doing car maintenance yourself. I'm by no means an auto repair shop, but the forty-something dealer's price was too high for me.

I finally ordered this filter after reading reviews from people who clearly knew what they were doing. After being told it would cost over $30 to replace my filter at the store and seeing where it was going, I figured it really wasn't that hard to do it yourself. I was right. The filter is inserted directly into the holder. It took a whopping 5 minutes, the longest of which was getting the rubber plugs in the glove box into the right position to keep the glove box from falling out.

I am giving this four stars because it is approximately 1/8 inch larger than the original OEM filter in my Kia. There is a small channel around the filter holder that allows the filter to fit snugly, but this TYC filter is still too big. I got it working with some kinks in the TYC filter. This filter is much better priced than the overpriced offering at your local oil change station. They asked $29.99 which sounds like a good price. No thank you.

Does not fit our 2004 Kia Spectra although it does fit Revain and says 2004 Kia Spectra on the box. Check your car before you buy it. Perhaps Kia changed the mid-stream design and later 2004 Kia models use this filter. It's not ours. The filter we have is half the height and mounted vertically. There is no wide horizontal slit for this filter. Attached images. Not so easy to see because of the narrowness. The filter is twice as wide as our vertical slot. This cabin filter is ideal but requires care when fitting the filter element into the existing frame. Getting to the old filter for the first time is a real pain. The description of how to remove the glove box bumper is actually in the owner's manual, but it's a bit misleading and the tips on the blogs didn't help me. I ended up just dragging it into the glove compartment. Did no damage and I went through a similar process for a Hyundai right after (another filter) within minutes. The old one…
