The best customer service on the planet!

What a nice little radio! I'm so glad I bought this as a pocket radio to use with a DMR hotspot. Most importantly, Let's Get Ready's absolutely incredible customer service.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • Some flaws

good compact radio for CB and two way radios

Nice and small for my 78 year old aunt who uses the family repeater. Larger radios would not fit in a purse with a 450-470MHz antenna. The distance is good for the little guy. Wanted USB charging but couldn't get a battery dock. There are also two batteries, which is great, but only one belt clip (the clip screws onto the battery).

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • Not sure

Excellent build. bad software. Return

Tried to program the radio from 3 different computers. The seller is a 5 star seller who also tried to help. After consulting several radio engineers, it was found that the software installation was buggy and only worked under conditions not normally found in Windows 7, 8 or 10 when other applications are present.

Pros
  • Handy thing
Cons
  • So-so

Error in the software, radio could not be programmed correctly.

After trying to program this radio for several days I decided to return it. I am a licensed ham radio operator and have several different brands of digital radios including TYT radios and have never had a problem using the CPS and programming the radios. This was not the case with the MD-430, I couldn't get the timeslot and color code to get the CPS on the radio. I'm sad because this radio would have been perfect given its size and could still be one day if they fixed the issues.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Perfect DMR Radio Hotspot

After encountering the dreaded "libusb0.dll is missing" message, I found that there was a USB port under the rubber plug on the bottom of the radio. Plug it in instead of a battery, turn on the radio, and the CPS driver and software will install seamlessly on Windows 10. It works great with MMDVM/RPi0W, a Pi Star hotspot, and I now regularly speak to Talk Group 91 around the world. All DMRs have a learning curve, but YouTube videos are your friend and this radio has some good ones available…

Pros
  • Excellent Overall Performance
Cons
  • Very Expensive

Lightweight, no frills, loud sound!

Useful Hack: The TYT-MD380 Spring-Loaded Belt Clip fits this radio! This is a major upgrade over the included cheese paper clip that came with the radio. This is the best you'd expect, but for a cost-effective, ultra-lightweight, waterproof, and compact HT that works over short distances with DMR or analog signal, it does. Well! Squelch settings > 1 can be too harsh and make the radio less sensitive than it actually is. . So don't be afraid to set the squelch to 1 and you'll hear more! I can

Pros
  • Hands-Free Operation
Cons
  • Easily Repairable
