Good quality digital multimeter.

Bought because EEVblog recommended it as a good quality cheap DMM. Wasn't disappointed. I use it for hobbies, car and some home projects.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Disappear

SOLID gauge. for testers

I bought this as an upgrade to my original meter I ever bought which was a 20 year old UEI product. After seeing an overview of multimeters on the EEVblog, I decided to go back to using UEI. It's reliable and works well.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Upgradeable

Good gauge. in testers

This is a good counter and good customer service. They changed it after 3 years when it was blown. However, it does not measure capacitance over 100 uF. This makes it unusable for those working with amplifiers or amplifier power supplies with capacitors in the 1000-4700uF range. My $35 Astro AI meter reads 100uF2mF. For this reason I can only give 3 stars.

Pros
  • Solid build
Cons
  • Nothing here

Bought this unit after seeing a good review on the EEVBlog on Youtube. Very durable, easy to use selector switch and the fastest continuity tester I've ever seen. Leads are also of good quality. The display has an old-school side-lit green background as opposed to more modern fully backlit meters, but it gets the job done and can be read in total darkness or in bright sunlight. The only thing I didn't like was that the included temperature sensor only measures Fahrenheit - it can only be set to

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Update available

Great gauge! - Tester

I learned about UEI meters while looking at a rebuild of $100.00 multimeters on the eevblog site [.] He looked at UEI DM 391 which is the same as 393 except that 391 is not true RMS, and he really liked it. I work mostly with electronics and really need a capacitive range finder. I LOVE the look of this counter! It feels good in the hand, the switching travel is great and the display is very nice! Be sure to remove the protective cover from the display, it's hard to see and you'll have to pry…

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • There are problems

"Sexuality " is relative!

Like Mr. Zang, I looked at the $100 DMM Shootout on Dave Jones' EEV blog and not minding the 'attractive' but robust field meter settled on the UEi DM393 with TRMS. And Mr. Zang is absolutely right, there's a protective film on the display (although you swear there isn't one!) that you have to peel off with your fingernail. Presumably the pull tab adds too much to the cost of the device! The unit comes with a good set of test leads, and the included alligator clips "screw" onto primary 18 AWG…

Pros
  • 1 year trial
Cons
  • Available in white only
