Description of UGEARS Mechanical Wooden Monowheel Construction

3D MECHNICAL WHEEL: The single wheel is built in skeleton steampunk style, which means you can see and enjoy the beauty of moving gears. Despite its airy and delicate look, your alternative model is sturdy, you can take it outside and give it a good roll on pavement and other hard and semi-rigid surfaces. TECHNICAL FEATURES: The Ugears mixer kit comes with 300 pieces, including 19 spare parts. The assembled model measures at 185 ?? 95? 6,299mm and like all models in the Ugears family, it is made from high quality sustainably sourced wood and has everything you need for assembly. QUALITY OF PARTS: We use a laser method to cut items from a plywood board that provides precise hairline cuts. The details have to be taken out of the tables and assembled to create a complete model. TRANSPARENT ASSEMBLY: Includes 300 wooden components, and the building is accessible to both children and adults comes with a step-by-step assembly guide, easy to follow and requires no glue or special tools to fully assemble. FUNFILLED ACTIVITY: It can be used to create a fun activity set for any special occasion. For example, I can offer it as a challenge in closed form with the game prize in the middle of the safe. Containers can try to open the safe, listen to the sounds inside, or turn the handle. It will be great fun, and if nobody succeeds.

Ugears is overpriced

1) Hard to find components. Numbered components are arranged in random order on several sheets. I've spent hours of my life looking for components because Ugears saved 5 cents on an extra sheet. 2) Replacement parts give the false impression that there is room for errors and defective parts. The constructor is not reliable. I broke a thin detail that was crucial to the device. As a result, the wheel did not work after assembly.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

Do not overtighten gear assemblies.

This is my sixth UGEARS model so I am very familiar with their methods and instructions. This particular guide seemed to have smaller images than usual and that slowed me down a bit. Once complete, I couldn't get the model to roll more than a few feet, so I spent time manually turning the wheel to clear the build. It helped, but needs more loosening. I don't see the device ever reaching the performance shown in the YouTube video. At least it's fun to build and would make a nice static addition…

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other picks

Unique and fun model

Interesting project, lots of detail, fun to assemble. Part number 60 is a bit fragile, I broke one but it can be glued together and works fine. You will need to sand the bearing surfaces and all moving parts smooth. I use a good 320 grit sandpaper. Use lots of wax, I use a small candle for this. At first he didn't want to work very well, it took some effort to relax him. I ran the wheel on the table top by hand and worked with the gears a few times to loosen it, now it spins for quite a while…

Fun build but still not working as advertised.

This is my second fairly advanced UGars kit (the other being the Grand Prix Racer) and I really enjoyed building it. These kits are great therapy for aging arthritic hands as well as good mental stimulation! However, I've removed the large drive wheel four times already, each time sanding and waxing the surfaces it interacts with, but it still gets stuck and won't move on its own. The internal mechanism runs smoothly without the large wheel attached. Maybe one day I'll rip it up again and grind

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Walks and tips over at the end

Assembles into a fun toy. I put off working on it for a long time due to the apparent lack of functionality. It came together easier than some of the 80+ 3D wooden puzzles I put together. The big surprise is how much fun we had with this thing. Need help installing the last large rubber band on the outer wheel and I didn't have a bracket that could hold the assembled case while the large rubber band was taut. Called a neighbor for help. Of course, an explanation of the riddle was required. I…
