Works when it wants.

I'm running this on Windows 10 on a Ryzen based system with an Asus motherboard and it just doesn't work. It worked right out of the box with no need to install drivers, great! nope After one or two device connections, I suddenly found that no devices connected to it were recognized. When I plug something in, the device recognizes it, but it soon disconnects for no apparent reason. I don't even use any power-hungry devices, just a USB-C SD card reader. I found a driver download (they only come…

Pros
  • There's something there
Cons
  • Expensive insurance

Didn't work on my system

Easy to install. Included was a floppy disk for installing drivers. BUT: A USB 3 hard drive was plugged in and a drive letter was stolen that was already in use. Also, it wasn't connected to an internal power supply, so I'm not sure if it's suitable for charging.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Negative experience

USB-C DOES NOT support video pass-through

This card's Type-C connectors DO NOT support video pass-through. What does that mean? USB-C to HDMI and USB-C to DisplayPort adapters just don't work. Windows recognizes them as generic billboards and not video adapters because the cards do not negotiate ALTERNATIVE modes. The seller claims that a Thunderbolt card is required for video transmission. Type A ports carry video and work with video adapters.

Pros
  • A dream come true
Cons
  • Infinitely sluggish

Unreliable, bad driver - USB port cards

Do not use the driver provided by Fresco Logic. The standard Windows 10 driver works fine, but the Fresco driver on the normal CD does not work.

Pros
  • great product
Cons
  • price that beats the piggy bank

Works well for the most part

I chose this card mainly for internal USB ports. They allow me to connect the touchpad without having to run another cable through the back of the case. Looks a lot cleaner and easier to take off if needed. Works great and won't power anything (like the touchpad backlight) when the computer is off. NOTE: When the computer is off, devices (such as phones connected to the USB-C ports) provide power to this card. It didn't cause any problems for me, but I stopped using these ports to charge my…

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Minor issues
