Universal Base Station

I had no problems. I controlled this with the MX850 Universal Remote and it worked great the first time. The device will project IR from the base unit itself if you wish to point it towards your setup or mirror. It also comes with many high quality stick-on IR repeaters for cabinet mounting.

Pros
  • Radio Addressable
Cons
  • Some Errors

Unless you have a bottomless bank account.

Please understand when purchasing that it is ONLY compatible with URC brand remote controls. Then you understand that the only way to turn your URC brand into more than a paperweight is to pay a URC certified professional at least $100 to program it for you. Add a new component after a year? $100 for a specialist to add it for you.

Pros
  • IR routing
Cons
  • Newer model could have chosen

Bad documentation. Works fine

I bought this unit because I had 2 DirecTV receivers connected to the same TV and had no other way of getting them to work with the UR MX-900. I'm NOT a professional installer, but I'm very tech savvy and I installed my entire home theater myself. I found the installation instructions inaccurate. The manual says that if you only use 1 receiver you can just plug it into the headphone jack, but that's wrong. The receiver needs to be powered so I had to use the wire you screwed into the RF inputs.
