Works well with Logitech Harmony One

I have to admit, the result of installing it on my Fire TV left me with a really weird feeling. It felt like a disappointment, which was strange since it worked as advertised. Then I realized what a feeling of disappointment is. After years of spending hours each time buying a new high tech product. Just to get the prematurely released buggy stuff working, apparently I was gradually taught to schedule such a test. I received my Flirc on a Thursday but didn't take it out of the box untilโ€ฆ

Don't forget to configure USB

This applies to Flirc and Harmony Elite with Nvidia Shield Pro Control Hub. This feature requires the Harmony app running Android 8 and my app is installed on an Android 7 device. The Harmony desktop app won't pair Bluetooth for unknown reasons. So Flirc is here to help. It worked great after doing two things: (1) Adding Flirc as a device to Harmony and creating a Watch Shield Action that only included Flirc, TV and Receiver. (No shield). (2) Downloading the Flirc software and using the Shieldโ€ฆ

The Absolute Best Extra PC Remote for Linux

After playing around with LIRC on Linux, updating the OS, installing features, tools, mods, etc., my remote still didn't work like it did it had done need for me. Enter FLIRK. I connected this device to the front USB port of my Ubuntu 18.04 PC by launching MythTV Frontend and running the software installation on the manufacturer's website. The app has a nice GUI that allowed me to choose from several templates that fit some popular remote controls. Everything is very simple. In my case I bought

Pros
  • Dope ๐Ÿ”ฅ
Cons
  • Everything is fine

Functionally it works great. I was able to use any remote I set up without too much trouble, I had to adjust the repeat interval, but the fact that you CAN set this up is great. My only real issue is that the plastic cover that protects the circuitry and allows the beam to reach the sensor is poorly constructed and falls off easily. I use Flirc to control my KODI media player on several different systems, one of which is portable, and the USB connection made Flirc the perfect choice as it would

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • Boring packaging

Nvidia Shield 2017 + Harmony Hub with a simple remote control

This little USB device is easy to set up, but there are no instructions. The guides are scattered around the web and all you get are bits and pieces. I finally got it working and it works great! I use a Harmony Hub with a simple remote control. I don't use the iPhone version as a Bluetooth remote control. If I did, I wouldn't need that USB device since the Shield has Bluetooth. As I am not using my iPhone as a remote, the 16GB version of the Shieldd and Harmony remote will not work without this

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other options
