there was a coolant leak but not from where

I had a coolant leak but not from where. I have noticed that the lid does not "click" when tightened. Replaced the cap and all is well now.

Cons
  • packaging is ugly

The sensor worked right away!

Sensor disconnected immediately. I tried to give it a chance to reset but no luck... the old one had a better seal, I'll have to try another one, we'll see. Do not give up!

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Communication with seller

Attention buyers: fits but does not work

Fits but does not work. The 2009 750i has a pressurized expansion tank. The coolant flows out of this cap under negative pressure, ie the coolant leaves the tank through this cap even if there is no overpressure in the system. Disappointing but not worth the effort to return. I bought a cap from BMW for $60 it's crazy but it does the job perfectly. 2009 750i with 96,000 miles.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel

So far so good best in Caps

Cap looks the same as the one I'm replacing. The difference lies only in the color of the sealing rings. They are orange. I had no problems installing it. First I cleaned the threads and grooves on the expansion tank. The lid unscrewed with no problems and was tight for the last quarter or half turn, as it should be. I'll see how long that lasts. Failure of any brand of cap will result in thread cracking and O-ring failure.

**READ BEFORE CONFIRMING**

I wanted to post this to help someone in my position. I drive a 5 with M54 engine. As with all M54 cars, the cooling system needs an overhaul from time to time. With a circulation of 250,000, everything will be replaced. After replacing all of the cooling elements, I noticed that I was running out of coolant, which was not the case before. I checked every hose, nut, bolt and connection. No luck. The most important thing to check for coolant leaks is a white coating. It's dried coolant. I…

Premium non-OEM replacement part

The expansion tank on my 2008 48i E70 X5 decided to end it all at 109,000 miles. And of course it didn't work out when we were on a family trip in Montana - about 1,000 miles from home. Knowing that an X-Tank failure could be caused by a faulty cap, I decided to purchase a new tank and cap. After reading a lot of online recommendations I was somehow convinced that I should only buy genuine BMW cooling system parts - apparently brainwashed and blind to the fact that these were genuine BMW parts…
