NOT GENUINE ARCA HEAD

Immediately after purchasing this tripod I really liked this tripod and how it worked. The carbon fiber is great, the head seemed really well made. The rubber grip on one of the legs feels very comfortable. However, when it came time to put my camera on a tripod, it didn't fit! The tripod head does NOT open wide enough to accommodate arca plates as advertised. It fits the "bow" head it came with but not my other "bow" records. I had to remove the headgear piece and replace it with a real quick…

Good travel tripod - hate screw caps

Amazingly light and compact travel tripod! I use this thing all the time for landscape photography and love how compact it folds up for travel. I fold it up and throw it in my backpack and it doesn't add any weight at all. At the same time, it is still a very durable and fully functional tripod. By no means flimsy. Vanguard managed to create something light and compact without sacrificing quality. *****Review: After months of shooting with this tripod, I have to say that I now loathe…

Excellent ultra light travel tripod for small cameras

I would NOT use it on heavier full frame DSLRs like my old Canon 5D series with L series battery and lenses, of course I'm tired of carrying this heavy beast with you and finally going mirrorless. The tripod itself can support the weight, but I wouldn't trust it to be stable, especially on uneven ground. Mirrorless cameras and this tripod are perfect for ultra light photography gear and make some of my recent hikes that much easier. If you shoot with crop sensor cameras you should be fine…

Good travel tripod with limitations

This is a good lightweight travel tripod but it has limitations. The ball head looks very high quality. I have used a heavy duty carbon fiber tripod (Gitzo) and ball head (Really Right Stuff) for many years. So I'm probably biased towards heavy tripods. I shoot a lot of landscapes, nature, travel etc. Last year I swapped out my Nikon full frame DSLR and lens for a lighter system. I am currently using a Fujifilm XT2 with an 18-135mm lens. I also have Fuji 100-400mm. I was skeptical of the small…

Very good quality so far, seems to be very well made.

First of all I want to say that I am an amateur and only had "cheap" tripods. I recently bought one for about $75 and thought it would be MUCH better than the $35 but it isn't. This costs money. I couldn't justify spending $400-600 on a professional travel tripod, but I increased my budget and bought this one. I have to say the materials and design are fantastic. It doesn't seem cheap anywhere from ball head to toe. I haven't had a chance to use it for night shooting, but the stability seems a…

Good and bad qualities.

This is my second Vanguard tripod. I like a heavier one, but not for hiking. This works well with my Canon 80D and shorter lenses. However, I have found that I have to overtighten the ball knobs and then struggle to loosen them. Admittedly, the Tokina 14-20mm lens is a bit heavy, but from what I've read I didn't expect any issues with the combination of camera and lens weight. So I'm a bit disappointed. I found the tripod to be fairly stable when using the remote shutter release, but I used it…

Easy to set up, strong and light - for PLEIN AIR PAINTER

Packaging impressions: DISCLAIMER: I use this tripod for painting outdoors - or will use it when it stops raining. You might think this is a less tricky use than photography, but I disagree. There's nothing more annoying than a cheap tripod that wobbles when you try to draw, or legs that fall off (thanks Sirui, you get the WORST customer service award EVERRRRR), or no tilt adjustment for uneven terrain. Since I'm using a Daytripper (from Prolific Painter), I want the legs to have an end high…
