I've never hand-made a throttle cable before. You have to be able to solder, but at least for me a cheap Radio Shack soldering iron and standard 60/40 solder worked great. It was light, contained all the necessary bits and pieces and was quick and easy to set up. I will buy a second set as a spare. Featured!

I bought this cable to replace a throttle cable on a 1978 MG Midget. The one I got from the MG parts supplier was junk as it wasn't teflon coated and was always sanded. This cable set was a great replacement!. All the parts needed were included, which made me very happy! Simply cut to length and solder the tips to the cable.

The addition of the optional in-line regulator accessory really helped ease the uncertainty of overall cable length. I had to heat the silver solder in a crucible and it worked the first time (see YouTube) For the crucible I heated the female end of a 1/2" extension with a propane torch. Hold the extension upright with the male end in a vise .

I was blown away by how good this set is. I have previously purchased and installed a clutch cable kit, but this is much easier to install. The solder flowed through the cable and nipple much more easily than before and I don't know why, but it was amazing. The best thing about this set is the rope tensioner. I wish the clutch kit came with it as well as it took the headache out of worrying about being 100% accurate with the cable length. Time will tell how well these kits hold up, but if…

I purchased this cable with skepticism as I have never made, repaired or even worked with a cable before. I tried my luck and tested my skills and with a bit of trial and error, create and repeat I was able to get this job done flawlessly! Bought because cheaper than universal clutch kit and took a chance to see if parts would fit. Well done.
