Versatile Aluminum Mount Wasserstein Outdoor Review

I am EXTREMELY dissatisfied! I bought 4 of these to use on my cameras. Two of them broke immediately when I started screwing them to the camera to prevent movement. The other two broke off the base about 30 minutes after installation. Only the camera's power cable saved the camera from breaking. These support bases need to be made much stronger to be usable in this case I think.

Cheap overall construction and the set screw/knob that holds the camera in position is cheap plastic and is removed immediately. I contacted the company about this and they asked me to send PHOTOS AND VIDEOS of the problem I was having with this part! Seriously not worth my time to pursue or return. Throw away the whole kit and bought an actual camera mount at a security store.

I bought these because I no longer have a mount for one of my Nest cameras. I was expecting this to be a complete solution to replacing the original mounting hardware, but this kit requires the use of the magnetic part that comes with the female camera. I didn't have that and ended up spending an hour at a carpentry shop making a mount that I screwed this thing into instead of a magnetic part. It ended up working for me, but it was NOT a full replacement for Nest's mounting hardware.

Excellent all-metal design, has a magnetic base that replaces the simple magnetic base plate that comes with the camera. The replacement allows you to use this articulating arm as if it came with the camera. Also allows you to mount the camera upside down and route the camera's power cable up the roofs over a canopy or soffit. The Wasserstein universal aluminum wall mount is just what I needed for one of my cameras. It did exactly what I wanted, but the little plastic drag wheel doesn't hold the weight of the camera in place. Luckily I was able to adjust the mount so the weight of the camera and gravity would hold the camera in place. Just take a look. I needed to install an outdoor nest along the wall of my garage overlooking my garage and I quickly found that this was a lot easier said than done. I somehow got it working, but I had to turn the camera sideways as only the bottom (next to the cable) could be magnetically attached at an almost 90 degree angle, so it was an odd frame of reference. When I came across this little gem I had to try it. And it's absolutely amazing! With this mount you can literally point the camera in ANY direction.

I bought this mount for a number of reasons. First, I feel this mount gives the Nest Cam Outdoor a greater range of motion than the camera mount that came with it. Second, the Nest Cam Outdoor has a significant downside, which is that due to the design of the magnetic mount, there's no way to mount the camera. I was trying to buy a mount for my outdoor camera, a mount that would hold the camera securely - as if the camera were screwed into the wall and not just fixed there with magnets. This mount had pretty good reviews and for some reason I assumed it would attach to the camera so I threw it in the trash and bought it. I'm not going to take off a bunch of stars - it's my own fault for not reading what I bought. I figured since I already bought this thing I might as well use it on one of my cameras.
