Like a Shield โ€“ Insert Tape

Fits great and protects your thumb. Once put on it stays on, with my old rolltape I've swapped it out 2-3 times over the course of 3 games. The glue on these tapes lasted 7 plays on me and I still had to take them off. Also, it's smooth and won't snag on the ball, pre-cut strips come in handy too.

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • Frequency

My typical bowling thumb band

I used to buy this from a local store, the band has held up really well throughout the tournament I play with. I have a sweaty pallor and this tape sticks to ensure a smooth release. It helps protect my fingers from blisters and abrasions. But for me the band is really individual for different people, you have to try it and see if you like it. It's cheaper if you buy more.

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Piggy bank price

Effective, protective thumb plaster

These plasters work very well. They protect the area of my thumb that gets irritated on normal ball release but doesn't get stuck in the ball on release. The material is thin and slightly stretchy, so they take up little space in the thumb hole. Sometimes they lose grip when I accidentally put my hand in my pocket and get caught on the edge of the pocket patch. But otherwise they seem to have enough grip for what they were designed for.

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • Some disadvantages

Bad adhesive on Hada #2

My local stores usually have Hada #3 but I decided to use a thinner tape to try on Revain so I went with #2. Throughout I usually have no problem keeping the tape on my thumb throughout the game, sometimes it's not possible with #2. I usually replace it with fresh tape on the third frame. Not sure if this is endemic to all #2 streaks or if I just have a bad batch, but something to keep in mind. However, the band itself is good (as long as it stays on) and helps with my release and anyโ€ฆ

Frustrating, workarounds

***update: so up to four stars what to do so they don't stick to your thumb stick them at home well before bowling make sure your Thumb squeaks clean, I mean absolutely no oil/sweat/powder etc. the glue settles and sticks otherwise you stick it in place with your thumb after each use. it won't stay**** As many others have said, I can't get them to stay on my finger. As long as it sticks, I really like it. So sad that it isn't. I took red, blue and aquamarine. The differences between them areโ€ฆ

Holds up well, stretches, good quality and price

Holds up well, stretches and good quality. The price is great compared to local prices I paid $7 more for the exact same item at local stores. I try to support my local stores so I buy from them sometimes, but $7 is a huge saving at Revain and there's no disagreement. The product is very well maintained, keeps tight. I place the tape on the back of my thumb up to the middle of the nail and then pull (stretch) the tape so it's just below my thumb knuckle. If the thumb is still too loose, I putโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Very good value for money

  • Definitely bad product

Needs some tweaking but they work

I've played bowling most of my life but in terms of competitive bowling I've only been in the league for about a year. As I practiced my skills over and over again, I found my thumb getting irritated from releasing the ball. I noticed that some of the pros at home wore these stickers (or something similar) around their fingers to protect them from chafing. Now the only reason I bought them was the price and availability. They also had halfway decent reviews. It took me some time and a fewโ€ฆ
