Description of Waka 58mm MC UV Filter - Ultra Slim with 16 Layers Multi Coating for Ultimate Ultraviolet Protection on Canon Nikon Sony DSLR Camera Lens

READ BEFORE BUY: Please verify your camera's lens thread size before ordering. Your camera's lens thread size will be marked somewhere on the lens barrel or printed underneath your lens cap. This number is always proceeded by a "Φ" (diameter) symbol. For example: Φ58 = 58mm lens thread size. PREMIUM QUALITY: 16 layers multi-coated optical glass filter, 99% transmittance compares to 90% transmittance of generic UV filter. Protect your expensive lens from dust and scratch while not lowing your photo quality. ULTRA SLIM: only 0.12"/3mm in depth, slim profile design ideal for wide angle lenses. A golden line on circle adds beauty to the filter and your DSLR camera. ULTRAVIOLET PROTECTION: Multi-coated glass blocks and prevents the harmful effect of UV rays and eliminates haze that can register a bluish cast from scenic shots. A MUST HAVE: UV filter is most popular protection filter for general and everyday use. Stay away from those none coated and resin material cheap UV filters. Backed with waka's 24 months 100% Satisfaction Guarantee warranty. Please don't hesitate to contact us via Amazon message system if at any time you aren't completely happy with your purchased, we'll provide you a satisfactory solution.

Light reflects during the day, ghosts at night

Bought for my Sony A7II paired with a 50mm f/1.8 with a 49mm thread. It fits perfectly and works well, especially during the day. It blocked some light I didn't want and works like a lens hood that blocks light. I've noticed it at night too, but I don't know if anyone uses a UV filter at night for night photography. It was the fact that it reflects light on the filter, making it appear as if it were reflecting light trails or surrounding objects. the lights. It feels like halos appearing in my…

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product

good filter, not a bad deal but.

Ghosting (and even flare) is significantly worse with this filter than other brands I've used, although honestly it's the cheapest filter I have. It's definitely there at night, but I was a little surprised to see problems even in low light, but still a lot brighter than at night. Maybe it's "layered", but the ghosting issue stems from what I've seen with non-layered filters I've used in the past. The themes are appropriate but not smooth on my copy - be careful not to mix up or get stuck! On…

Well designed UV filter (size 72mm)

Unlike some more well known UV filters, this WAKA filter is competitively priced. It seems well designed with a very thin outer ring. I have not noticed any noticeable loss of light, flare, ghosting, loss of resolution, distortion or vignetting on a full frame camera with a zoom lens set at 24mm (angle of view = 74.2 degrees). It fits my Canon lens perfectly. The alloy ring threads well and is just the right size to easily fit the front ring of the lens thread. I also bought a pair of these in…

Extremely unpredictable quality

I used this for my old 58mm lenses on my BMPCC. The optics are not bad for the price. At a very affordable price, these UV filters are worth buying to keep your lenses clean. I recommend them to anyone who has a large lens collection and wants to protect their lenses from dust and scratches. UPDATE: I bought the 77mm version of this lens and it was TERRIBLE. The glass rotated slightly in the metal body so I couldn't effectively clean the many strange whitish spots that were on the lens when I…

Surprisingly thin filters of very high quality.

Thin filters of surprisingly very high quality. I'm not a big fan of using filters in general, but the need to protect your expensive front glass, even if it's just for resale purposes, dictates that I use these "UV" filters on my more expensive lenses. Obviously there is no "ultraviolet" or haze protection or whatever filter manufacturers call these filters. Therefore, for me the important factors are multi-coating (to combat glare), thin design (to avoid vignetting) and maximum transparency…

Pros
  • Robust design
Cons
  • Without automation
