Warner Carbide Triangle Scraper 828 Review

I can't say enough good things about this tool. I've scraped 3 coats of paint from a few square feet of softwood and twice as much from a plaster wall - all without destroying it. underlying materials. The old paint was peeled off with careful, constant pressure. After cleaning, it left a smooth surface. Minimal grinding. I was satisfied and my hands didn't hurt like some tools do. I'm sure a sharp blade is the key to success.

This paint scraper was definitely worth it. I sanded old peeling paint off doors and interior panels. Using a sander and even sanding by hand created a lot of mess around the house. This scraper keeps the paint in big chunks that fall on the floor instead of dusting around the house. It also removes paint quickly and effortlessly. I bought it when I was more than halfway through. I wish I had it right from the start. This saves me a lot of time and effort.

I've been using this tool daily for two months to scrape paint off steel and it stays surprisingly sharp. The handle is well shaped to hold the blade at the optimal angle (not all scrapers do this). The handle is soft enough to be comfortable, and there's a small screwdriver tucked away at the end of the handle for tightening or adjusting the blade (a nice feature). All in all a very good device and a very good price. I will buy another one to use with the pear blade.

The main problem is that the blade can swing (rotate) from side to side making it difficult to keep the blade flat on the surface and it can left on a standing corner and pothole. This seems to be because the beveled side of the blade touches the handle and is therefore not tight. Another brand that uses a similar triangular blade attaches the blade to the flat side and holds it securely. Another problem is the ergonomics: the long handle tilts slightly under working pressure.

In the 70's I restored Victorian houses in San Francisco. Even then, the Warner scraper was the star in my tool bag. This new one is much better than my old one. The carbide blade (it's 2 in 1 since it's double sided) is far superior to the blade from the 70's. Used for: Thermal cleaning of a Victorian home. Siding type: 2.5" cedar plank. The planks were mostly convex or flat rather than concave. It seems cheaper than the Hyde tool I also bought but it works much better without scratching or damaging the wood as the blade isn't as prone to wobbling as Hyde . This is my second favorite after the Bahco 625 scraper, although the blade broke on mine for a while after returning it with tools for the night so it can be a bit brittle. To store with care.
