For Waterford collectors, Irish made items tend to have a shine that current Slovenian made items do not have. This is a very good investment. I bought the same pattern in a water jug and it sparkles beautifully. This Waterford item sparkles so well in my kitchen cabinet just because I put it DIRECTLY under the light. I found the Waterford Crystal Diamond carafe to be very bulky. This item has a very aggressive (big) appearance. The walls are very thick. It feels like it was made for Kirkland-sized Costco liquor. In fairness, the cuts are well spaced and aligned. I would not use it as a decanter for cognac, whiskey, vodka or even wine. At 13 inches tall, it will dwarf anything else around the table.
