🔧 Versatile and Durable Pelican 1040 Micro Case: Black/Clear (Model: 1040-025-100) Review

A little note about this product: It says "waterproof" in the description of this product. Note, however, that the product specifications state that it is water resistant. *I didn't pay enough attention to the fine print. It's definitely not waterproof. Before I put something like a cell phone in it, I tested it empty and it leaks a little, even just floats on the water surface. Still a very solid case but I went out and bought another fully waterproof one.

It appears to be an excellent case, feels comfortable and snaps into place. Unfortunately, the Pelican lists its internal dimensions as "6.5" x 3.87" x 1.75" (16.5 x 9.8 x 4.4 cm), which could be, but you have to Remove blueprint. Long story short, I couldn't fit my Nexus 6 (which is just under 6.5 inches) into the case. Using a ruler, I measured 6.125 inches of space between the blue fins inside the case. I bought two of these along with foam pads to protect two expensive battery testers that would otherwise be hanging around in my tool bag. The quality of this product is top notch. The foam insert is customized by removing small foam cubes for a custom fit. All in all it looks like an OEM case. I've been using Pelican boxes on my bike for years and have ridden about 150,000 miles. I have one mounted on the handlebars that will hold the fare, loose change, my phone/camera in the rain and the gas cap when filling up. I couldn't find a similar case that only had clasps on the side and didn't want to snap three or more clasps for these waterproof cases. I was mainly looking for a clear case like this because I carry all my bits in different lengths and this has been one of the most durable case I've found so far. I love these cases. I bought several of these (1010, 1020, 1040 and 1050) and converted the 1040 into a hard carrying case for a diabetic kit (glucometer, test strips, pen needles, lancets, alcohol wipes and an insulin pen). I removed the rubber insert and lined both halves with sticky velcro, then attach a small tab of the opposite velcro to each piece.
