Didn't explode, bulge or get hot when charging. The battery lasts a long time with my shooting style. After a few hours of photo-walking, the battery sat in the camera for a week and is still charged, so a win in my book.

Rechargeable batteries perfectly match and power D1 cameras. I bought 3 and they've been through a few charge/discharge cycles and seem to be working fine. One complaint is that the charging socket doesn't match the original charging plug very well - it fits snugly as some others have noted - but a little extra pressure and the battery starts charging and it doesn't seem to stretch or break anything . or. In general very satisfied.

I was wary as I had bad luck with battery packs that looked like they would fit the D1X but turned out to fit the D1 ( not sure if the batteries are bad or they are actually incompatible) so the fact that this could supposedly work for both made me suspicious. I am pleased to report that Watson EN-4 NiMH batteries are the best quality and value for money I have found for my vintage Nikon D1 digital cameras in 10 years. I was a little embarrassed before purchasing because others said the connector on these batteries is too small to fast charge Nikon MH-16. Although the fit is very snug, I had no problem getting it in with a little more careful but firm force. I fully understand that having to press so hard for fear of damaging one or both pins on a device can be nerve wracking.
