1/5 star (v) - Datastore

I/O error, crash after 4 months. Revain says contact Western Digital because 30 days have passed. Now the RMA fun begins. Locate the serial number on the front of the drive, then go to the Western Digital website to contact them. Pronouncing my email address over the phone to a non-English speaker is proving very difficult. I suspect he mislabeled my email because I didn't receive any emails for the RMA process. I had to call back the next day and start over and wait for the RMA details to be…

Do not plan to successfully register with Western Digital

This is a limited review due to Western Digital's lack of warranty support. I ordered a model WD30EZRZ drive on October 10, 2018 and it was sold and completed by Revane. I went to the WD website and successfully registered them for warranty support. Since then, this drive has been working stably and smoothly as a server drive in a Plex-based HTPC. January 27, 2019 I BUYED again to use as a BACKUP DISK and found it was sold by Hard Drive Geeks and fulfilled by Revain. I didn't even take it out…

Always test your new hard drives!

Whenever you get a new hard drive, run a bad block scan, preferably the standard 4-pass write/read test. WARNING. Fails after 20 months - WD doesn't offer a 2-year warranty

I've been a big fan of Western Digital drives for years, but that ended today. And I'm writing this review to make you aware of their guarantees based on my recent experience with them. CHECK WARRANTY STATUS on the WD website once you receive it. 1 year warranty - you are completely on your own if the drive fails during the 2 year warranty period). period, WD will replace the drive under warranty. A few days ago this drive suddenly disappeared from my desktop and after some testing I found that

Nice, practical desktop drive

I gave this drive to someone and they used it for backups for 10 months with no problems. My rating is based on another unit of this drive that I bought a few months later. I've been using it as my main drive for desktop OS/programs since 05/29/2014, so it's been about 5 months now. So far there have been no problems. It's a really good deal for a desktop if 1TB is all you need. The actual capacity of this drive is 931.5 GB. It's an old marketing gimmick that can be blamed for mindlessly…
