The cleaner works very well because it thickens and loosens when rubbed. I had already cleaned the mats with a degreaser and rinsed with water from a hose, but I rinsed with it again and it had everything the degreaser couldn't clean. I have tried using an interior trim spray to restore the shine and I have also tried using tire shine but both make it very slippery and dangerous to pedal as the heel then continues to slip during the ride. The combination of cleaner and protection works well but not as well as the price suggests. I was most interested in a sunscreen as those who have tried it know that it is almost impossible to find a product that will make them look "restored" without the shine.
