Does not hold a true 1/2 cup. I have tried freezing the butters to make removing the butter easier, but they are still difficult to remove. Nice concept but I'd rather put the oil in a bath and measure it like that.... It's about a tablespoon less than 1/2 cup and a pain in the ass to remove

The ice mold is too thin. Impossible to fill and transport to the freezer without spilling as the molds will just fold in half and spill everywhere. Spend a little more for something that has stiffness. It's worth saving yourself that headache.

These bowls are perfect for making homemade butter! They keep their shape well and don't burn. They are also perfectly portioned. A 32-ounce box of heavy cream makes 16 ounces of butter and 16 ounces of buttermilk. I was able to fill all 8 slots with 16 ounces of oil and have 0 left.

Silicone bowls are almost impossible not to spill when the water is at any level. You are too flexible. I had a mess yesterday. Today I put them on a tray to minimize wear time. Splashes were still occurring as the tray's two outer cells buckled, spilling some of their contents. A better design would be a more rigid frame while the rest of the cells remain flexible. I'll look around for the best design or I'll have to buy two more of these.
