Not easy to cut

These children's scissors will get stuck when you try to cut with them, which is very frustrating for beginners. It's a lot harder to cut. Instead, I recommend Scotch baby scissors! Wescott's scissors nearly tear the paper instead of cutting it.

Pros
  • Best in class
Cons
  • Expensive insurance

Ideal for simple tasks.

I needed smaller scissors to fit in my craft bag and they are perfect. They're not too sharp, but sharp enough for the simple tasks I need them for (like cutting things out of magazines, etc.). Five stars because they work the way I wanted them to and they are exactly as pictured and as expected!

Pros
  • Always liked
Cons
  • No instructions

Good, sharp children's scissors

Very good children's scissors. They are safety scissors in the sense that they are not sharp and are suitable for small hands. I wouldn't give them to a very young child unsupervised, but the blades are sharp enough to cut well and a preschooler can easily cut his finger if an adult doesn't help him. Although the quality is excellent.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Expensive

Honest scissors for the beginner.

These scissors are great for security but not great for cutting. They are so boring that Oscar Wilde seems exciting. They're good for small, dainty learning hands, but once your child gets the hang of them, they'll need something sharper. I can not recommend unreservedly. I would recommend teaching your child safety and looking for better, sharper scissors.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Makes me nervous

Ideal for cutting dog hair mats.

I buy a pair of children's scissors to trim my dog because I don't want to accidentally poke him with the sharp end. These scissors are amazingly sharp and I am very happy with them. As for kids, I would let them use them after showing them how to use scissors. If you have 2 or more children and leave the room they are in for a short time, be careful! I used to do this with my kids and they gave each other adorable little haircuts.

Pros
  • Molded asymmetrical handles make it suitable for both left and right handed users
Cons
  • Expensive

broken scissors good as long as they last

They fit my 3 year old perfectly for a few months but they have broken in two in less than 9 months of normal use. The plastic holding the two handles is cracked. We have a pink pair that is still holding so I'm wondering if there is a defect in the blue one as there are other reviews of blue scissors breaking the same way. Westcott offers a 5 year guarantee but I have to return the shears which costs more than buying a new pair. Needless to say we buy another brand.

Pros
  • Westcott children's scissors specially designed for children's hands
Cons
  • A price that will break a piggy bank

Not recommended

Unfortunately we were very disappointed with these scissors. They were pretty cheap - so not a huge disappointment - but I wish they worked better. I thought they were two-handed, but we can only use them (to an extent) for right-hand slicing. They also don't cut paper very well - too tedious and difficult for our small child. She is only 2.5 years old, but she can cut with other scissors. It annoys her (and me too). Wouldn't recommend (unless you want to take a chance with an older child. I…

Pros
  • For easy cutting of paper, fabric, rope and other craft materials
Cons
  • So far so good
