I'm so tired of my expensive pencils breaking. I did a little research and decided to do it. I liked it, but only after some trial and error. I pressed down hard on the pencil as I placed it in the sharpener. Free print works much better. I keep it empty - I empty it about halfway. I also clean it often with a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol, you wouldn't believe blade buildup happens so often. Those two do's and don'ts aside, this is a great sharpener.

Use the ones that belonged to my colleague. Excellent sharpener. When I received mine, I immediately sharpened 50 different quality pencils (from "brand" to cheap). Just a pencil (cheap) didn't satisfy me. Since the pins were new, I had to press a little harder to prevent the auto stop from working. If you press for too long, the tip will become very pointed, which is undesirable in math operations. I'm a teacher and I probably won't let my students do it because I don't think it will stand up…
