They are super quiet!

I was concerned about reports of noise from this drive, either saying it's louder than other drives or super quiet - the latter, they're VERY quiet.

  • Great Design

6 out of 6 discs without DOA, fast and quiet.

Ordered 6 of them for Raid configuration, no DOA, stable speed, pretty quiet. We'll see how long they last, but so far so good.

Definitely louder than a regular hard drive

I installed 2 of these hard drives in a Synology NAS (DS 220+) and immediately noticed that the noise level was higher than the Seagate 6TB hard drives, that I had before. They're working well so far, but if you want quiet drives, keep that in mind.

512MB cache. The?!?!?

Amazing ride. Significantly faster than smaller cache drives given the 256 x 2 = 512 cache. Great for any purpose, get two and use them for data redundancy and never lose your data. Boot into the SSD operating system. As a recommendation, install an SSD when running your current operating system so that it loads the necessary drivers, then boot from the duplication software and set up the system to boot the SSD.

Ideal for home NAS

I have three of these in my home NAS paired with three Seagate EXOS 16s and they work great. I don't hear them in the case I have been running ZFS raidz2 for the last month with no problems. I tested them in the 16TB showdown against the Toshiba MG08 and Seagate EXOS 16 and they performed very close to Seagate. and much better reception than Toshiba.

Official Seller of 16TB HC550 Sealed Data Center Drives

If you are all looking for high quality data center drives with high (MTF 2,500,000) and fast SATA 6Gps interface, these drives are perfect for your NAS array and/or data center systems. I did a lot of research to find the right seller who didn't price these drives in the insane $700 range. I recommend purchasing these discs from Tech on Tech.

  • Decent Performance

Technology over technology law.

I have purchased two "Western Digital WD Ultrastar DC HC550 16TB SATA 6Gb/s 7200RPM 3.5" Hard Drive for Data Center (WUH721816ALE6L4)". Key Points.1. Each hard drive was shrink-wrapped in an anti-static bag, wrapped in hard drive air-sleeve, and packaged in a small hard drive shipping carton. They have been packed safely and professionally.2. Both drives are included in my Synology DS220+. No problems after completing a full Smart scan.3. Verifying the serial numbers on Western Digital's…
