Super loosely woven. - Fryer Parts & Accessories

Right out of the box everything is bent over and looks like someone was beaten up with it. Besides all the dents, the braided part of the basket is a disaster. Loosely woven in places. bent in others. See photo. Seems to be strong. Found elsewhere online for $3.50.

Sharp edges will scratch your vessel.

Pros: Heavy and looks strong Cons: 1. The wiring is not perfectly distributed, I wonder how it will be after a few uses.2. Worst of all it has sharp ends where everything is welded. It will scratch your vessel, be careful.

  • understandable even for the old ones

Field Test: Small Appliance Parts & Accessories

I used it in a 5 liter home fryer with a fairly constant oil temperature of 350 degrees. I've made fried chicken with it. Made the operation very smooth. There were no problems with the basket, cleaning was easy. The handle stays very cool while you work - it does get hotter as you approach the basket, after all, but what do you expect? I'll be using this a lot this summer and if anything changes (durability etc) I'll update this, but for now: good product.

Pros
  • Great for me

Good size for frying in a casserole Lodge

Hi I have used this in a 5 liter cast iron lodge and have been happy with it. The size is enough for a small breast (blush), thighs, shins, wings. I would say that for whole splits you have to break one at a time. so don't go A whole bag of thighs from the store is cooked in batches within an hour, I estimate. Robust construction. A few tips: 1. Do not overfill, cook with a half-full basket for better control.2. Wait about 5-6 minutes between batches for the oil to reach high temperature again…

Sturdy, more than it looks, an inconvenience. . .

Extremely strong and well made, stronger than typical home use baskets, rivals hell of the big commercial fryers I used in the hospitality industry when I was young. A little deeper than it looks. (Measurements are accurate, just check your pan with a ruler, yes.) One inconvenience: I'm used to the thinner homemade version with a hook at the bottom of the basket so it can drip back into the frying oil, it didn't. BUT the separate drain space does the trick and the rest of the product is…

Thank heaven for Kitchen & Dining

I bought a cute little Revain Fry Daddy and used it three times. It was fun using Fry Daddy. He did everything they said he would do. BUT. It doesn't have manual temperature controls, it doesn't have a "heat-on" indicator, and it only cooks about half a batch of fries at a time. the mind kicked in and the lightbulb went on. (Full disclosure. I'm a cast iron cookware enthusiast and a snob). I have a 10" cast iron Dutch oven (from Revain) that allows me to control the oil temperature. I bought a…
