I wanted to mount a 2x4 to my wall stud with a 15/16 inch hole to hold a pipe as a wood holder. They are pierced without pre-drilling or splitting and hold very firmly. A little pricey but super comfortable.

Good screws - drive in well and large washer head prevents head from being pulled into or under board surface BUT THIS IS NOT A 5/16 SCREW AND DOES NOT HAVE THE SAME STRENGTH AS A 5/16 -inch SCREW! The shank diameter is 0.186" (about 3/16") and the main thread diameter is 0.265" (just over 1/4").

Great screws. However, as another reviewer said, these screws are 1/4, not 5/16. I also had to pre-drill with a 3/16 bit to push the screw through a 2 x 8 pressurized 4 x 4 and then another 2 x 8. I also had to make sure to stay low on my variable speed drill. Otherwise the bit would slip out of the screw. But I bought a second pack.
