Description of 🔪 Wusthof 8-Inch Disassembling Kitchen Shears, Red 5558-R

High carbon stainless steel blade with red polypropylene handle. Features an innovative design which allows the shears to come apart for easy cleaning. One of the blades is serrated, to provide friction and prevent slipping. Blades curve inward so they meet in only one place, at any given position and cutting cutting action is smooth and exact. Handles feature steel toothed inserts which easily twist open bottle and jar caps.

Rusty and useless scissors

They were delivered to me less than 3.5 months ago. I've been very careful to keep them clean and let them dry completely before putting them back together and they're already covered in rust. I am absolutely disappointed with this purchase.

Pros
  • Excellent design
Cons
  • Some difficulties

Incredibly uncomfortable! The grips are NOT what was shown on the Revain website. The holes on the handle are sized for a child, not an adult. Wüsthof is a good brand but they are NOT MADE IN GERMANY but Chinese fakes. I would definitely not recommend anyone to buy these scissors. Too bad.

Waste of money for scissors

I read the reviews before buying these scissors. I thought the people who said they broke up too soon were being a bit picky. I was definitely wrong. They fall apart too easily. In fact, now they not only annoy me, I'm scared of them. I was going to use them yesterday to cut a ribbon and they fell apart and the tip pierced my finger and cut it off. They're very hot, I'll give them that. Terrible purchase that I regret.

Pros
  • Fits many
Cons
  • Very expensive

NOT GERMAN - Chinese junk

I love Wüsthof like many of you and am willing to pay more if they are made in Germany (Chinese scissors for less than that Half price here, on Revain." I've read questions where people asked if it's German confectionery MADE IN CHINA (see bottom left corner of my attached image) BS misleading product description.

Sharp, strong and durable!

No kitchen can do without these pairs! Maybe even 4 pairs! Ha ha. Seriously, we use them for almost everything. Our favorite uses are: cutting raw pork ribs into more manageable sizes for our pans (love slow cooking them!); grinding food for our little ones before serving; and cutting herbs right into our recipes. They are very sharp and strong! I like that they can be easily washed in the dishwasher. More importantly, the gum hasn't started to break down years later, unlike the other pair we…

Wüsthof restricts competition!

Needed a kitchen knife, chose this based on rave reviews and have no regrets. It's solid, sturdy, doesn't feel cheap, feels good in my hands, has a great weight balance meaning it's not super light or too heavy, and it's very reliably sharp. It's also very easy to clean by rotating it 90 degrees and you can clean each section individually. For anyone claiming that these scissors fall apart too easily, I can't imagine what you're doing to make it happen - I never would have come close to falling

Where has the quality gone?

I recently lost my Wüsthof 5558 gourmet scissors and wanted to replace them. I bought my original pair in December 2006. I can no longer remember whether my original purchase was made in Germany or not. But it's not the same quality. First, the grips are rough and really uncomfortable to use. I have small hands and was really cramped. Second, the number 5558 is not stamped anywhere on the scissors, nor is it depicted anywhere on the box, only the Wüsthof name and logo is stamped on the…

I don't like these scissors.

Advantages:1. They are sharp.2. They can be easily disassembled for cleaning.3. The steel seems strong. Cons: 1. The holes on the handle are designed for children or adults with small hands. If you have big hands, it's difficult to hold them. and they're painful to use because they dig into your joints. These scissors will fall apart if opened more than 45 degrees. I had them in minutes and they kept falling apart with easy handling. Wüsthof is a great brand. But I definitely do NOT recommend…

Disappointing, inferior to the old model with the same number.

This product is inferior to what was previously sold under the same model number. I bought my first one in 2011. My nurse lost her recently while I was on vacation. So I reordered the same model number. They're clearly inferior - where they used to be exceptional, they're now pedestrians. I just found an old one and can show comparison photos. The old one has a better blade and notch which can be useful to start cutting. The blade itself is MUCH better - it can cut through much thicker bone and
