My sharpener did not work at all when I received it. After clearing things up with Revain, I went into the sharpener and found that the problem wasn't with the power cord or the motor. This was the automatic switching system that many sharpeners use. The removable plastic container has a small plastic rise. This X-Acto electric pencil sharpener was a good purchase. Bought to replace another X-Acto (model 1800) pencil sharpener that lasted about three years. We use it in our house but it gets used quite a bit as we have three young children. After about six months this sharpener is holding up well.
