Description of ๐Ÿ›ฅ๏ธ YDWG-02: Yacht Devices NMEA 2000 Wi-Fi Boat Gateway (DeviceNet)

Allows you to see data from a NMEA 2000 marine digital network on a PC or smartphone. Creates its own Wi-Fi network or it can be connected to an existing Wi-Fi network. The Device has a bi-directional converter between NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183 protocol. You can use our free colorful, web-based gauges to built-in administrative web site, and now you can view wind, engine (and fuel rate!), course, speed, depth and other data right from a browser. The Gateway is designed for operation in an NMEA 2000 network and is compatible with a wide range of equipment supporting this protocol. Raymarine SeaTalk NG, Simrad SimNet, and Furuno CAN networks are branded versions of NMEA 2000 and differ only by connector type. Garmin uses the NMEA 2000 Micro connector in its devices, which is compatible with the DeviceNet Micro connector.

Works perfectly! in Marine Electronics

Works well with my Ipad Navionics Boating App (transmits depth and AIS vessels) and also works with my Polarview NS navigation software for PC. The WebGauges feature shows engine gauges and rudder position on my boat's NMEA 2000 bus.

Easy to install, works great

I use the YDWG-02 to download apps to my iPad Mini and view the instruments on the boat. It works very well and was trivial to install. I love that it comes with a SeatalkNG connector so I don't have to buy an expensive adapter. Tiny size and low power consumption suit my boat well.

Simple and good choice.

I wanted to be able to access some of my NMEA2000 data on my mobile phone and tablet. It worked much better than the Garmin Pico I installed a few years ago. The Navionics app uses speed and direction and the IP site (webpage) they provide allows you to set up multiple pages of sensors and data, which is enough. I love it when the anchor drags information next to my bed.

  • 1 year trial

Amazing technology

So far I have been very happy with the equipment from Yacht Devices. I have two of these along with temperature/humidity and barometer sensors. I am currently using this to provide data for Navionics running on an iPAD. Support will be added to SignalK and with that there will be endless possibilities of what to do with boat data. Everything from logging to performance metrics to smart alerts and automation. The built-in web server is also very handy for quickly accessing the tools on yourโ€ฆ

Easy to set up! the best marine electronics

I wanted the Expedition software on my laptop to receive NMEA 2000 data wirelessly. Setup took about three minutes. Turn off the instruments, add the Yacht Devices connector and gateway, turn the power back on, use the Yacht Devices drop-down menu in Expedition Instruments settings, and you're done. I planned all day thinking it was going to be difficult - I was really impressed. One downside (for me) was that I was hoping the Wi-Fi Yacht Device would support laptop screen mirroring on theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Good, but not great

Too much time wasted on this 'simple' NMEA 2000 gateway It worked for a minute - Depth appeared in my Navionics app on my iPad/iPhone which I really need and then nothing. YD web sensors work but not exactly what I'm interested in at the moment - they seem to provide GPS data based on the yacht's position, but I had it with a Bluetooth GPS 100 Garmin. . Very bad online support. That's the problem. Whose problem is this? Navionics or yacht equipment? Based on my time so far, a dedicatedโ€ฆ
