A good receiver but for the money it should be better.

The system works well. Sounds great, great breakup. I have found that before turning on the receiver, you must first turn on the TV to sync the video. If you don't do this, you will occasionally experience video and audio dropouts, or your picture will be letterboxed and audio levels will be lower.

RX-A2A is not ready for the public yet!

When the device was turned on, the firmware update started, after the reboot was completed, the device was unstable and kept rebooting. The device is NOT ready for the public yet. Yamaha is promoting a bad product that needs more testing. It should be possible to update the firmware without destroying the entire device. I called Yamaha support, they said they just returned it. I will never buy a Yamaha again.

A huge improvement over my old Yamaha receivers

This is my fourth Yamaha receiver but my first in years. Like all my Yamaha receivers, it delivers great sound, but the addition of Dolby Atmos is a big upgrade. This is my first HDMI input, which makes it more convenient than setting up systems to put the sound and picture on the TV separately - it's all through the receiver now. It's also my first with built-in network and streaming sources - I previously connected Alexa to an auxiliary input. Although I see from the reviews that some users…

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Long delivery time

This is my third Yamaha receiver and my first time with the Aventage range. The sound is as clear as my other receivers and for that reason this is my third receiver. It also has pre-outs for the front left and right speakers so I can add an amp to my Klipsch RP-8000F to really SING! I really like the look of the new CYCLOPSE series and the sound lives up to its name. Now the negatives - the UI is TERRIBLE! My underage Yamaha RX-683 had a better menu than this one. It looks so easy! No…

save money and wait.

Where to start? I ordered this from Revain as it was returned. When I received it, the remote control, microphone calibration, Wi-Fi antennas and manual were missing. No problem as I have a Logitech Harmony. Since the discounts were applied and I only paid 650, I can say I wouldn't give a 100 for this item. First, the UI is so bad that a kid drawing it on paper with crayons would be better off. The audio is very poor and there is no on-screen confirmation of what video mode is being displayed…

Poor sound, but otherwise all well done.

I'll be brief as many reviews of similar Yamaha devices like the RX-6VA and TSR-700 have already beaten a dead horse to things like the HDMI 2.1 bug , yes, it affects this device, as well as any other AVR with HDMI 2.1. If 2.1 is a big deal for you, I'd recommend waiting for next model year devices to hopefully fix the HDMI chipset. I doubt a firmware update will ever fully fix this. Now to the receiver. It's personal preference, but I love the aesthetics of these new devices. It looks clean…
