Review on YAMAHA AVENTAGE 7 2 Channel Receiver MusicCast by Lisa Green

save money and wait.

Where to start? I ordered this from Revain as it was returned. When I received it, the remote control, microphone calibration, Wi-Fi antennas and manual were missing. No problem as I have a Logitech Harmony. Since the discounts were applied and I only paid 650, I can say I wouldn't give a 100 for this item. First, the UI is so bad that a kid drawing it on paper with crayons would be better off. The audio is very poor and there is no on-screen confirmation of what video mode is being displayed or what surround mode is being played. My old receiver is a 5 year old Denon. I paid 1500 for a new one and the only thing it doesn't have is Dolby Vision. I have nothing good to say about this receiver. I love music and use the front outputs that go to a Yamaha MX 1000u power amp and the preamp on the receiver is really bad. There is no storage at all. So if I'm listening to music in 2-channel stereo, as soon as I switch to my Xbox I have to manually set it to Dolby or Auto. The thing is to remember which options are set for each input and which are not. For $800, it's better to buy a three-year-old Denon or Marantz receiver. You get a lot more for your money. Now for the main downside of this receiver, as well as all receivers in 2020 and 2021. They all use the same defective HDMI chip. Not 120Hz, not 8k. Presumably this will happen in a firmware update, but it will never happen. So if you want to play console games at 120Hz, forget it. If you want 120Hz for your TV that supports it, forget it. I will be returning this and sticking with my 5 year old Denon for now.
