So far, so good. best in Whole Home & Mesh Wi-Fi systems

Just set up my NETGEAR Nighthawk Whole Home Mesh WiFi 6 system and so far so good. I used to have a Netgear AX1800 Wifi 6 system and had weak signals in parts of my house, but with the new mesh system, Wi-Fi signal and strength tests show I can get video streams of up to 8k while previous tests barely reached me. 4k I recently watched a 4k movie on my 4k TV totally unbuffered, excellent. So for now I'll say all is well and thanks Netgear.

Pros
  • Quick change
Cons
  • Volume

Significantly improved coverage and speed

This router and a satellite have greatly improved the Wi-Fi coverage and speed in our 2,800 sqm hotel. ft. It also improved reception from my RV. Setup was pretty easy, my only complaint was that there was only one wired ethernet connection on the main router. We have a connection for two office computers on a wired bridge and it would be nice not to add another router switch on the back of the router. Otherwise, the mesh is a massive improvement over the old Nighthawk.

  • Absolutely amazing!

Super easy setup! for network products

This was one of the easiest routers to set up. After 10 minutes my network was up and running. The signal/coverage is excellent with this system. I now have near full coverage from most of my house and parts of my yard which has also helped me connect to my cameras. My only recommendation is to be careful with the default password on your router. The password I was given was pretty weak and would have been fairly easy to crack with a brute force attack.

Pros
  • All right!
Cons
  • No automatically

Excellent for 2 months, then NOTHING!

Worked well to extend our signal from our house to my son's tiny house in the backyard. Worked for a few months and then just quit. Of course I had return days so I had to buy another one. Let's go with another one this time.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Makes me nervous

DOWNLOAD THE LATEST FIRMWARE

My father bought the same model from Costco last year and had no problems with it. . This prompted me to check the reviews on Revain and that's when I discovered that other people were having similar issues (Wi-Fi signal dropouts, DNS issues, slow speeds, etc.). The only way to temporarily fix these problems is to reboot the router, but who wants to do this every few hours. Anyway, I did a little googling and found that the latest firmware patch version 1.0.6.112 fixes these issues. Note: YOU…

Fixed my dead zones

Many of us have more things connected to our home networks than we previously expected or can admit, I've been a fan of Netgear products for a long time, this is my 5th router in many years. My previous one had trouble keeping in touch with all my stuff as connections dropped from time to time. In my frustration I thought I should give this one a try. After a week I can say that I am very surprised that I can connect all of my countless devices with one simple Nighthawk app and so far there…

Maybe I had a bad module, bad connection

The second module kept disconnecting from the main router rendering the whole mesh unusable. Possibly due to the fact that I bought refurbished devices this could be the reason for this, but their user interface is also pretty terrible, based on the overall ease of setup and performance I decided to return them. In fact, I bought a mesh extender through a wifi6 router, both from Netgear, which work 10x better than this particular solution. You should probably buy a new one that can give you…

C-tier setup: computers and accessories

For the IT professional, they ultimately leave a lot to be desired. If you want full gigabit speeds instead, look elsewhere. Mesh devices alone are slow, adding about 5-10ms of latency between your local devices. If you're using a mesh satellite backhaul, you're lucky to get 500 Mbps at 75 feet behind a wall. A good 802.11ac AP does about 80% of what it can for a similar or lower price. My final vote is save your money on something like Google's mesh hub unless you're replacing old hardware…

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Available in white only

I usually put off reviewing these types of products because they often don't show any problems until you try them. 90 days because everything worked as expected. Luckily I took out insurance with this mesh combo. I have used almost every brand of router for both work and personal use. Here are a few brands: eGenius, Netgear, Brinkman, Linksys, Asus, and a few other brands. I always update the firmware and use the Nighthawk app to track the daily operation and performance of the router. and…
