My favorite audio purchase of all time

I use these speakers on my computer where I have all my MP3s, a MIDI synth kick from Roland (I'm an amateur musician), etc. These things rock an incredibly clear sound and lots of bass without "muddying". I'm spoiled, I can't listen to cheap computer speakers anymore!

  • Enjoyable

DR. Great - Bookshelf Speakers

These monitors knocked my Maudio BX5a out of the water. I use them for recording and for computer sound. I use an XLR to stereo cable with them. Most stereos can't even dream of this volume.2 - They're HEAVY. I swear they weigh 40 pounds each. 3 - Anything you want to connect is fine. 4 - The volume controls are notched so they can be easily adjusted to the same volume. 5 - Stunning high and mid frequency performance. The bass is more than enough for anything but serious bass music. And I mean…

Perfect computer setup with 2 speakers

Top quality. I've owned these speakers almost since day one when Yamaha released the MSP-5. Solid speakers. Formerly used in Avid Bay. They were a great upgrade from Roland's previous industry standard speakers. These near-field speakers are ideal for a mounting pad or desk. The sound is great - lacking just the right amount of bass to tweak the audio track or just listen. Crisp, clean, neutral, not warm but very accurate with good LR channel separation just a few feet away. Solid speakers…

Impressive computer speakers!

I got a pair of heavily used ones from my local Goodwill store for $80! Not sure why someone would donate this? They are heavily worn and look like an old model. They have square cooling fins on the back. Remember that you need 3 adapters to connect it to your computer. One is 1/8" to RCA, then the Stem RCA to RCA to 1/4" to plug in the back. There are other ways to do this. But just wanted to give an idea. Once used the goodwill had no idea if they worked. So I dared. Man they sound amazing…

Great sound and great solution for iPod or computer speakers

After I decided to build a small stereo to play music from my computer and iPod the owner of the stereo store I checked out said I should Yamaha listen MSP5 monitors he had. He explained that I would not need to buy an amplifier as the speakers would be powered ie. Each speaker has internal amplifiers, one for the woofer and one for the tweeter. I was a bit skeptical at first because it seemed like a very simple fix, but once he plugged it in and turned it on I was hooked. They're made for…
