We've thought long and hard about where to put the lids on the pots when cooking. Most of the time we just put them on the stove, which means extra cleaning. In an episode of ATK they reviewed cap holders and they featured this one here. And it was their winner because it's handled every lid they've put on and doubles as a dish holder (keeps them upright). It fits my largest cookbook, a 10" cast iron lid and a 14" stainless steel pot lid. The silicone dropper is removable for cleaning. While the lid holder won't fit in most cupboard drawers, it will fit on a cupboard shelf or deep pot drawer. I can't use it as a spoon rest if it has a big lid, but that doesn't bother me - I have other spoon rests. I've included some pictures that should show you that the top edge of the large lid protrudes a few inches past the base. Yes, that flips it backwards.

Like everyone else I saw this lid holder on ATK. My daughter bought it for me as a present. It is beautiful and truly built to last.
