Spent an hour finding software, contacted seller and nothing! "The seller said it was just a reader" - it didn't help at all! A youtube video showed a man scanning a key fob with windows notepad lol. I felt stupid to say the least. It is great for scanning Mifare cards to get ID

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Available in black only

USB card reader looks like HID. Parallels keyboard for data entry.

Reads at least two different types of RFID cards (must be 13.56MHz). It's easy to reprogram to return all 14 hex characters, which is what you need when you need unique data. If you connect directly to data entry fields, the HID interface works fine. I need to read from a background program, so I had to modify udbhid-dump (Linux) to create a reading routine for me.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Not sure

Works on Linux including Raspberry Pi - 14H actually 8H

It worked right away. I use it with both an Ubuntu laptop and a Raspberry Pi. No drivers required. It is a HID (Human Interface Device) and behaves like a keyboard, sending an identification code read from a card or key fob as a keystroke. My only (minor) complaint is that they offer a 14H format, which should give you something like 00000013579acf even if only reading some of the ID digits. The device I received has a configuration box below (in Chinese characters) that is not 8H and is…

Pros
  • The best in my niche
