🔒 High-Quality Door Lock Latch Actuator 3B1837016A for VW Beetle, Golf, Passat: Front Right Passenger Side - Compatible with Volkswagen (8 PIN) Review

The 1997 Porsche Boxster uses a different latch (8 pins) than ALL later models (9 pins). This part fits and works as a replacement. It looks EXACTLY the same part as the $600 Porsche part. 3B1837016A for the right (passenger) door, 3b1837015A for the left (driver) door.

This is the second locking actuator I had to install. The OEM part lasted 15 years. The first aftermarket lasted 3 years. I suspect I'll get about the same life out of it (3 years). If you use your car for a long time, it is probably worth buying an original part. Otherwise these aftermarket devices will cost you.

The latch is a Chinese copy of a factory part so doesn't look as solid as the factory part but works fine. The installation of this part is not quick, since the door has to be almost completely disassembled, but it is not difficult. The only problem is that the spring has to be moved by the original latch that loads the adjuster. Spring isn't in the Revain photos, so I was expecting that. If it lasts me half as long as the original, it will still be going strong after the car is sold.
