I bought this item for my great-nephew's first birthday. Although he is only 1 year old, he is quite tall for his age. The balance bike has already become a favorite. He can follow him and push him forward. He can sit on it comfortably with his feet in the right position for balance. The item is well made and should last much longer than it takes him to use it and learn how to balance. Much better than the "normal" tricycle for its mental and physical development.

WARNING! Our 1 year old just choked on a piece of rubber he LIGHTLY bit off the steering wheel! At first he liked this bike and then we saw him chewing on the handlebars and had to take the piece out of his mouth! This company SHOULD change the material of the handlebars to one that can't be bitten off! All children at this age start cutting their teeth and gnawing on everything! I almost got this bike back. My 18 month old daughter kept flipping the front. Okay, that's a bit dramatic, she threw the wheel two or three times, but it feels like it's a lot more than that. We decided to wait a few days and see how she behaves. Now she drives it like a champ and she loves it. If you can handle the learning curve (it was hard for me :/) then this is a great toy to ride with! If not, stick with traditional self-propelled/trip machines whose only risk are adventurous toddlers…

I originally wrote about a problem with this toy. This is an edited comment. When assembling, the rear wheel was not attached properly. So we had to drill a hole for the bolt that holds the wheel in place. After reading the review, the company contacted me to fix the issue. This bike was super cute and easy to assemble. My kid loved it for his first birthday but I can only give it 2 stars because I had to return it. The handles are made from a sponge material that my teething little man immediately wanted to chew on. He was literally less than 5 minutes on the bike when a chunk so large detached from him that he would have easily choked if I hadn't been near him. I bought this for my 1 year old boy's first birthday. Mom said that of all his gifts, this pup was the one he couldn't stop playing with. He squeaked when he saw it. It is easy to use and operate. The only downside was that the pup only rode around in a cardboard package, resulting in the seat and two tires on the underside being covered in black scuffs.
