This small vise is almost too big for a compact vise. Something to consider if you really need a vise for a tight space. In addition, it is exceptionally well made for its petite size. You really can't find a better one in its class on the market right now. You will need to look for vintage and restore it to match this vise. This vise is of excellent quality. This is designed for light loads, moderate would probably be a more appropriate rating. It should be noted that he has no tubular jaws. So if a round shank clamp is required, this vise is not for you. But for work in moderate conditions this vise is fine: the jaws are clamped in parallel, there is a good size anvil for shaping, the jaws have flat, horizontally machined surfaces - not the more usual diamond pattern, the base rotates 360 degrees.
