The device works, but it is much smaller than in the photo. I used it to fix my son's bike chain but to be honest I could use an awl and hammer to get the pin out too. I suppose if you work with bike chains on a daily basis this will make your job easier. It's a good tool and reasonably priced, but it's situational and I don't think most people "NEED" this tool.

The only other chain tool I've used before is a tiny hand held tool from Topeak. This one is fine for a saddlebag, but this one is easier to use and more substantial. It's technically small enough to fit in many panniers, but for the road I'd go for a smaller bag. I use this chain tool in my home business. I changed a circuit and everything worked perfectly.
