🔧 High Performance Yukon Gear & Axle YG F8.8-488 Ring & Pinion Gear Set for Ford 8.8 Differential Review

Bought this and a YKF10.5-A rebuild kit to upgrade a 2001 F-350 SRW 4X4 Power Stroke with a 6 1/2" lifter and a 37". -Rebuild BFG Bearing failed at 210K. Excellent quality, the 4.30 gear ratio keeps the axle within 2% of the original 3.73/285 track width. I highly recommend this seller and this line of products.

I had these gears professionally fitted and they whined so badly I could barely drive. I have adjusted them 4 times by the pros with the same end result. I ended up buying the original gears and they are so quiet I can't hear them at all so I finally got my sanity back. I will never buy Yukon Gears again!

I returned a set that had no damage to the gear liners (very noticeable parts are missing from both the crown and pinion) . faces). Good luck learning. Ring and gear distributors make it difficult to purchase a quality ring and gear set at a reasonable price. A friend recommended the Yukon as an American made ring and gear with the correct tolerances and steel. Most rear wheel shops say to stay away from Chinese made ring and pinion kits. Well, this ring and sprocket set has a tag that says 'Made in China'. So I sent it back. Disappointed that Yukon is promoting their Ring and Pinion kits, which are made in Washington…

These gears and all new Timkin bearings and seals were installed by a VERY reputable shop. As an added reassurance, the driveshaft was perfectly balanced. I used Mobil oil instead. After about 500 km, noises appeared in the gearbox. Took the truck back to the shop and the diff was fully inspected. Preload and backlash settings have been confirmed to be within specification.
