A good technical update, but with its own problems.

The insert is VERY tight, so tight I have to squeeze it with pliers to get it out of the Zippo case. When the liner arrived I filled it up and blew out air. came out and then tried to light it. The spark worked well, you could hear the gas escaping, but the flame didn't burn. I worked with this for a few minutes and found that I had to use the flame adjuster on the bottom to change the height of the flame, pushing it all the way down to get a constant light. Maintenance is key

For the price this is a pretty good lighter. I smoke a pipe so my lighter gets a lot of use and I don't expect a lighter to last forever. I get about a year of use before the spark cam fires. That's longer than I've gotten from some much more expensive lighters. In fact, the loop on the Zippo body usually wears out before the second Z-plus dies. Disgusting performance!

In my experience, there doesn't seem to be a single lighter that works 100% of the time. When I received this lighter, I wasn't expecting it to fail (or barely light) after the first fill. It actually worked surprisingly well. Just one click and it lights up. I usually empty the tank before refueling and nothing has changed about that.
