Zentangle 101 good for crafts, hobbies and at home

I love this book. It's short and straight to the point. No extra reading after you've gone through the introduction. I drew this picture using some balls from the book. I wanted to draw today when I was looking for a book I couldn't find. Because my 10 year old son started using it. Lol, he's never shown any interest. But now he's busy with it all day. Great for beginner anglers of all ages.

Pros
  • ideal for small households
Cons
  • not reliable

I have so much fun with my granddaughter!

I recently received a Zentangle restoration card from a family in Tasmania and was intrigued because it was created by a very young nephew and was beautiful! This zentangle thing looked like I could make it with my granddaughter so I ordered the book and we weren't disappointed. We're still learning and having a great time - the book contains step-by-step instructions/images from multiple strands and we're working on mastering them before moving on to Zentangle Book #2 in the near future!

Pros
  • Sturdy Construction

  • Safety

Not much of a workbook

The first 16 pages are examples of all items that you can purchase and which can be centered (see image). Considering this is a beginner's book everything was perfectly unnecessary addition. Page 17 is a full page to announce that part of the workbook is beginning (why?). On page 18 you finally start drawing. Page 32 has a half page for you to practice the lines and a half page about the author's blog and hello to the Zentangles website. Since you only get 1/2 the book, 1/2 the book price would

Instructions are clear and simple, broken down into steps

Instructions are clear and simple, broken down into steps. Fun and easy to bring students into my world of drawing. Although some really don't get the gist. This is a planned process as a meditation, warm-up and start of creativity. Can be expanded upon by a knowledgeable teacher to introduce linetypes, rhythm and interest. Brings pleasure for a short time, although the "patented" designs and methods are the height of arrogance and insult. For parents who want to keep their kids busy and like…

Pros
  • This is great

  • Some bugs

Zentangle for Beginners

This is a really good book for beginners. It is very simple and introduces you some projects. I watch YouTube videos before buying this book. I think you'll get more out of it if you do the same. The book doesn't go deep like a lot of the videos I've watched. I'd also like to add that it's a lot cheaper than taking lessons from certified ones (yes, they certify instructors). The book is written by a certified instructor so you learn the technique. It's also a philosophy, so if you want to dig…
