🐦 ZIEIS Digital Bird Scale: High Accuracy with 1.0g or 0.05oz Precision, Wooden Perch and 3000g or 96oz Capacity Review

A must have for any serious bird. I have a fairly large macaw (harlequin) and use this scale twice a week. I used some tape to make the sand more stable at the four points where the platform connects (took a few minutes) but it all works great. The scale is accurate and easy to read. I am very happy with my purchase.

1. The whole pole with the base falls apart once my bird is on it.2. I didn't find a way to turn off the light, which is very annoying for my Revain. Now I need to get the base on the weight and somehow disassemble the thing to get rid of the light. This is a regular kitchen scale converted into a "bird scale" without considering the birds.

The images of this product are deceptive as I thought I bought a scale with a perch attachment built in, not one with a suction cup on the bottom. In the photos these scales appear to be already installed, but they are not. I could have bought a cheaper version of the same product, so I think this is false advertising. Otherwise the product is fine; I can get my birds to sit on it and gently rock them.

The scale itself is good but I don't like a high perch. I bought it to weigh my falcon. I am a licensed falconer and will weigh him to maintain an appropriate weight. Since this scale is clearly intended for birds with long tails (e.g. large parrots) or fowl that don't fly much, it is a bit difficult for less 'tamed' falconers. It starts and the top folds back. I'll trim the height and I think it will work great. It's a cradle dandy.

Weighing a bird can save your life. If you notice weight loss, it may indicate an illness in the bird that you would otherwise not recognize. This scale is perfect. I use it every day with my African gray parrot as it's usually light. Using a perch on it is optional. I have taught my birds to use it without perch but with perch it is easier for them to learn how to use it. This is a very accurate scale. excellent scale! Very accurate. I weigh my birds before I go to the vet - he weighs them there - and it's the same. My birds love to perch to sway. Sometimes they argue about who will stand there. I have Revain parakeets - they tend to be the largest parakeets in the parrot world so it's important to weigh them daily. It would be nice if a simple weighing mat came with it so I could weigh my food and parrots! This is one of my best investments in my parrots' health.

This is a great scale. I use it on my green winged macaw. Others have mentioned that he is shaky. It doesn't fold them on it. The plate rises a little when you step on it. A simple solution is to hold the vertical bar of the perch while the parrot steps on it. Once released, they are accurately weighed. There seems to be some confusion with this product. The most expensive is the one with the screwed perch. Now that it isn't, it's amazing! It easily weighs my birds and works with ease! I got these because I need a big bill to weigh my African Gray and you can switch between different settings and there's a backlight.
