We have had TV sound systems for many years. But now in high school, the sound systems have too much background noise to hear dialogue clearly, so we switched to the TV's standalone speaker for clarity. This TV speaker has 12 levels of sound, from a strong background sound for us to a very, very weak background sound to make watching a movie even more enjoyable.

Bought for my 90 year old mother who has a fairly severe hearing loss. She likes it very much. She can watch movies, sports and other TV shows and actually understand the dialogues. The stupid background noise in the TV show is practically absent for them. It's particularly stupid when the sport trumpets into the artificial noise of the crowd when nobody is in the stands. It erases it.

This ZVOX amplification system is very good at eliminating noise that disturbs the hearing of the hearing impaired. This allows you to distinguish spoken words much better. The different settings are difficult to understand. We copied the instructions for connecting to our TV remote. It works, but then suddenly it goes to a much lower volume. Then it has to go back to how it was.

This 157 is ZVOX's latest and greatest soundbar for voice clarity. The product works as advertised but needs to be properly calibrated. I had some difficulty following their written instructions as the soundbar would not properly connect to my TV and cable box. When I contacted their support team I was surprised by the help I received. The technician was rude, brusque and dismissive. In the end I figured it out myself. Based on this experience, I will no longer buy this company's products and will not recommend them to anyone.

This repeats my original 5 star rating. The product initially worked as advertised, responding to volume, mute and on/off commands from our main remote without affecting the ZVOX system settings. AV157 really improves voices. I have an older SB500 with AccuVoice but not 12 adaptations so I did a comparison between the two on an English language TV show where all the actors had varying degrees of English accent. Both speakers improved speech intelligibility almost equally, and there was very little difference between the AV157's 12 settings when AV was set to AccuVoice level 2 or 3.
