This set has fallen in price so I rushed out and bought it almost a year ago. I've used them on gas, serpentine and glass cooktops. While the sides have a matte finish, they do scratch, but not terribly. Lids fit well and are easy to clean. They don't have built-in ventilation. The handles are shaped in such a way that a spoon can be placed in a recess. They're not very comfortable to lift, but they're not loose. A good set of durable three layer stainless steel cookware that will last a long time with proper care. Pans can be a little heavy for some flavors, but they hold heat really well. The handles of the lid are shapely and serve as a shelf for spoons or cutlery. The glass is nice and thick so it feels durable. I noticed that some of the pot and pan handles were a bit sharp in places, so I used a small, fine sanding cloth to round the edges in a few places. The handles seem a bit strange to me too.

Great set! The price I paid at $175 couldn't be beat for the great quality of this set. I originally wanted a 12 piece set as featured in Bed Bath and Beyond, but how could I turn down this offer for HALF the price?! The pans look very nice out of the box. Holding one in my hand, it reminded me of my mom's old Rena Ware utensils - she's had them since she got married 30 years ago and they're still great for cooking.
